HSDPA is faster speeds around 400K-1Mbps.... it supposed to be the equilvant to EVDO revA but only time will tell.
and the other person is right, it allows you to use your phone as an external modem to use with you laptop etc... (that way you dont need a seperate PCMCIA card)
