Just make sure you upgrade to an OS for your specific phone. an 8820 OS won't work on an 8800 or 8830. An 8310 OS won"t work on an 8300 or 8310.

Plus I doubt if you would gain much n the process. Upgrading just to upgrade doesn't make much sense to me. Now if there is some functionality that you know exists in a newer version and you need that, then by all means go for it.

Changing the vendor file does nothing but change the opening screen and in some cases do more harm than good. As other features may be tied tothat file other than the ATT or T-Mo or B2 splash,
