Thanks. I didn't see any activity in terms of x of y items so I went ahead and cancelled the activation, took out the battery, etc, and restarted activation. (I had another user's BB to use for testing purposes and, while not exactly the same scenario, his BB did not show any percentage activity either).

The first time the sync failed with a "cannot connect to server"-type message, so I rebooted the BES server and tried to sync again. This time, this message appeared: "an error occurred; please contact your system administrator". Exchange server showed a couple of messages being sent to etp at the same time. I am trying a third time to reactivate the device. Any ideas (like, deleting the user from the BES server)?
