in the past, no. you always had the option to SMS over GPRS (but you had to change this). T-Mobile has since disabled this feature (which is only present on newer phones), so it will now send over GSM only, and it will use up your SMS messages.

like i said above, this was made because they were being 'cheated' out of money due to a new technology that was implemented on the handhelds. is it fair to those people who associate IM with GPRS/Data? no. is it fair that people send normal phone-to-phone TXT/SMS messages over GPRS? to T-Mobile, it is not (although i, nor any other customer, wouldn't mind having unlimited SMS bundled with a data plan (or heck, just the BlackBerry data plan)).

but none of that will change unless customers who actually use the product call up and complain. the bugs for the OZ IM client won't be fixed. the possibility of SMS over GPRS won't be re-enabled. nothing.
