Yes. As long as the applications work on the new OS, you will be fine. Please note that you cannot select specific applications to back-up. However, you can select specific applications during the restore process.
As John Clark mentioned, this works best with DM 4.2. I just switched to a 8130 from an 8100 using DM 4.3 and several of my applications failed to back-up.
