After my daughter dropped hers in the toilet, for the umpteenth time, I tried a heat gun on low setting. Got it nice and warm, but not so hot as to burn it up. After about a half hour of this it started working again. She had turned it on many times in the meantime.

In case you haven't used one, a heat gun is a tool (as in get it at the tool dept. at Sears, for example) that looks a little like a hair dryer, but puts out serious heat. It's used to heat parts when a torch would be dangerous or too concentrated. You have to be very careful if you try this, as it would be so easy to just flat out melt the thing! The trick is to keep the heat gun back away from the BB, and work it back and forth so as to apply heat gradually.

And be careful of your hands and other stuff in the immediate area!
