if you exit your application and it is not running how can you switch to it?
you can only switch to applications which are running in the background as you already said...
If you want your application to appear there you have to put it in the background (.requestBackground) instead of closing. However it is not a "fine" way to run an application in the background and waste memory if it actually does nothing.
