Overview

When calendar reminder alerts are dismissed on a BlackBerry Bold 9700 or 9630 smartphone with content protection enabled, upcoming calendar appointments that trigger the reminder alert are displayed as duplicates only on the BlackBerry smartphone. This may also occur with All Day or Recurring events.

Environment
  • BlackBerry® Bold™ 9700 smartphone
  • BlackBerry® Tour™ 9630 smartphone
  • BlackBerry® Device Software 5.0
  • DT 523362
Resolution

Update to BlackBerry Device Software containing Application Version 5.0.0.743 or later for the BlackBerry Bold 9700 smartphone.

Workaround

Please be advised that this workaround may not be suitable for your organization. Please check with your security or legal department to ensure compliance with State and Federal law.
To disable content protection on the BlackBerry smartphone, complete the following steps:
  1. From the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone, click Options > Security Options.
  2. In Security Options, click Encryption.
  3. Change the Encryption mode to Disabled, and then save the settings.
Note: If the BlackBerry smartphone is associated with a BlackBerry® Enterprise Server, content protection might be enabled through an IT policy. Contact the server administrator to disable content protection.

Additional Information

If the following IT policy is configured, it will continue to force Content Protection (BlackBerry smartphone Encryption) and BlackBerry smartphone Password. Even after manually configuring the IT policy to exclude Content Protection and Password, the following policy will override this setting.

Policy:
External File System Encryption Level

Setting:
Encrypt to User Password and Device Key (including multimedia directories)
