Remove these files:

net_rim_bb_medialoader_backgrounds_480x320_b.cod
net_rim_bb_medialoader_music_480x320_b.cod

you can also remove these if you dont want the vendor themes etc. It will not remove the Precision Zen & Precision Silver themes:
net_rim_bb_medialoader_114_five_icon_library.cod
net_rim_theme_102_zen_480x320_b.cod
net_rim_theme_114_480x320_b.cod
net_rim_theme_115_480x320_b.cod
net_rim_theme_119_zen_480x320_b.cod
net_rim_theme_122_zen_480x320_b.cod

Create a subfolder called Removed Icons, and move them to that folder. Then plug in your blackberry, run the desktop manager and update your phone.
These suggestions sounded great. So I deleted all of those "medialoader" files and the "five icon" files listed above. Here's my results:

1. I use to have 49 megs free after a baterry pull. Now that I've deleted all the "medialoader" files, I have only 44 megs free after a battery pull.

2. Those stupid sample pictures (BMW, etc.) are still there.

Is there any explanation as to why my free memory is worse than before and why those unwanted samples are still on my phone?
Did you remove the files from the correct os folder?

Did you plug in your BB and update your phone afterwards?
