Just offhand, why is paying $600 better than being locked into a contract? I don't like the contract myself, but reasoned that paying $200 + $175 ETF was cheaper than $600, so I went ahead.

I came from an 8830 and the keyboard and screen are definitely an order of magnitude better. The keyboard is backlit and easy to read, the senistivity appears greater so I don't have to push as hard. I type faster on it although I am inadvertantly making a lot of capital letters because I am not used to the light touch. No typos because I can't tell an M from an N in the dark though!

The screen is amazingly clear, bright, and readable. I can read my email outside in the sun which I couldn't do easily on the 8830. Inside it is just brilliant.

I think it's worth a $200 upgrade. Not sure I'd cough up $600 quite yet.

To my dismay, I just found out last night that I didn't have reception at the mall, whereas my 8830 always did, so I need to go troubleshoot that.
