Well it's a tough one coz it can take forever and pulling the battery could just restart the 5 hrs+ time but if you aren't seeing log entries showing that it's Busy Working, maybe it's time to cut your losses:

(this is what I usually see during a slow sync where BB shows no real progress but work is happening). TBH I think that even though 0% is showing, if you aren't seeing more detail down the list on a particular service book going through it's own progress (like x of y items under Cal for example) it's safe to assume nothing it happening and start again.
