If you have any 3rd party apps on your phone one of the has an update or app world is trying to update itself. Once you open up the blackberry appworld ( the icon you described ) go to the bottom left icon called "my world" from there it should tell you what needs to be updated. It may ask for your blackberry I'd, if you never made one then you will have to create I'd at the top.
