The blackberry phone is either owned by a company and the service is controlled by that company for all employees . the other service is when the phone is NOT on a company server and uses the cell phone providers servers to communicate. The Blackberry is not like other phones because it is highly secure and validates the validity of the connection the user is trying to use. When it comes to email or any type of internet communication it checks the security certificate ( SSL ) and if it finds it outdated or invalid it notifies the user. If your using a Blackberry phone without Blackberry service and just using a SIM to make calls and send emails it may be the carrier but if your on a Blackberry data plan then I need more details.
