If the phone stays black and your sure the battery is ok AND you did not drop the phone or get it wet then it may be defective.

try these.

Pull the battery wait for about 2 minutes and replace.
the display should show the word BLACKBERRY
then you should see the BLACKBERRY SYMBOL
after about a minute or so the phone should show the time and date

From there the display will show icons or require a password if you set one.

If none of this happens and your SURE the battery is ok then try to borrow a battery to test. If that also fails I would suggest your Z10 is defective.
If you recently purchased it I would return it if possible.
