My argument is that Blackberry expect either firstname.lastname (See the Dot) or [email address]

which is not correct for my Exchange setup.

The users login with Firstname Lastname (See the space). If you hit the spacebar in the username box on the Blackberry when entering a username it will add a DOT or At symbol which is not what I needed to set the username.
