Sigh, normally when a division like this gets spun off it is to maximize the revenue that is produced - in this case there is NO revenue from BBM, it has been used to drag hardware sales.

Spinning off a division that gives away free software makes no sense unless they can monetize it via charging for it or getting it through on-board advertising.

either way, seems like a complete waste of effort....
