Default Blackberry Curve takes a bath

So, my girlfriend had her water bottle tip over in her bag with her blackberry curve 8330. After a day and a half of being in a bag with Silica gel balls, the phone turns on and we have life! It's definitely a bit wonky, but, we successfully sent and received phone calls, blackberry messages and emails. It's unbelievably slow to boot (don't know if it ever actually finishes the process or not now, as it won't gets off the "Bell" screen). The battery indicator was also a little weird, it looked like it was charging and not charging on and off (the little lightning bolt would come on and go off about 3 times a second.) I went and bought a new battery, but the issue is still occurring... I'm gonna try to update the software, but, I fear that might not fix it. I haven't yet taken the whole thing apart, but I may try that too. Anyone have any other suggestions on why this indicator might be flickering like this?
