Default Verichat...Good or Bad?

Please Login to Remove!

I am thinking of purchasing verichat...now, I know there have been numerous threads on verichat, but they seem to be somewhat contradictory. Some say that it's the best thing since sliced bread, and others say that it randomly drops the connection.

I've tried the trial, and I did find it had a tendency to drop the connection, however, I'm wondering whether this could be related to the fact that it is a trial.

Anyhow...somewhat longwinded I know, but basically, I'm wondering whether the bad experiences that people have had, have been with the trial, or the full version...and whether it seems to work better with some devices/networks than others.

I personally have a 7100t with t-mobile UK.

As always...all input much appreciated

Appreciate the reply Dawg...I thought some more people may have shared their experiences, but never mind...I guess I'll just have to buy it and see for myself

I use it, but not a large user of it... seen some wierdo bugs, but it seems to get better as releases go on, no major issues and liked it better than webmessenger. I dont think I have had a dropped connection ever, but I dont leave it on more than an hour at a time usually.

Verichat is nice, but not great. I have many AIM buddy's and when I launch Verichat, the window shows up empty. I have to manually make a change (show the bots, hide the bots) to get the screen to populate with my buddy's.

Also, as a communicator, it is fairly slow. I have used Ramble too (which did not exhibit the above problem), and in tests IMing friends while on the phone with them, Ramble was instantaneous. Verichat could take several seconds before sending or receiving IMs.

Try Causerie from MantraGroup. I have HUGE buddy list in AIM and Gmail Talk and it loads up fine. Remember to select List Mode. Tree Mode, though it is nice, it takes a while to load. You should use List Mode. I am 7100t user now and have seen none-few problems with this software. Good luck with your evaluation.

Thanks for the replies guys. I thought I'd let you all know how I'm getting on. I've had verichat trial installed for a few days now, and it hasn't dropped me off yet. The only issue I have is...if I do exit the program...then the first time I try to login again, I get a malformed address error. Trying again gets me straight in, so it's not a great problem.

One thing I have noticed, is that if my BB is holstered (I have it lock in the holster), when someone tries to start a new chat (haven't tried it yet with a current session), I get the notification, but verichat doesn't pop to the front. Just a small thing, but something that I would like to see changed.

I am gonna try Causerie out before I make a decision, but so far, Verichat gets a big

Cheers

It does, if you configure "Jump Immediately To Chat" in Options.

If you're just using it for AIM, Ramble is the best way to go. I love ramble to death. On the otherhand if you're looking to use multiple clients, go with Verichat. In my opinion Verichat beats out all the others like IM+ etc.. Plus Verichats bots can come in handy.

I already have that configured, and it works just fine if the handset is already on, but if it has been locked (manually, or with the holster), then I receive the alert, but when I unlock the device, I get the home screen, and have to manually ALT-ESC through to Verichat.

@nick119
The bots do seem pretty cool mate...but they seem to be more US-oriented. Also, I believe Causerie does a premier version with bots too.

Cheers

As a huge Causerie fan especially after Google Talk compatibility, I should say that Bots were first brought to mobile platform (Palm - Even Blackberry) by Causerie alone. Multiple accounts is also their major plus. Apparently, they concentrate more on Palm and tout the enterprise abilities to connect to Sametime and LCS. Other good side is the speed. It is much faster than the competitors. The downside is the updates. I am yet to see an update for Blackberry from them. I hope they are working on their 1.1. They have closed their forums, so I am yet to hear about their updates.

I unfortunately purchased verichat. maybe its more stable w/nextel but I'm with verizon and have the 7250. Never a problem connecting or chatting but it had a good tendency to bump you off when your not looking. I have it to auto reconnect but it rarely happens. I've used Ramble and would say if your going to use AIM, go that way. Much better and always kept logged on or reconnects auto for me...plus its FREE. I'm doing the beta version of Yak-on...it has its bugs but if they get those worked out, it should be compairable to the others you have to pay for.

I'd try Ramble for a few days before purchasing verichat and compare.

I agree, Verichat has been the best for me. I've tried some of the others out there but this seems to be the most reliable to me.
