Am I missing something?

In the past, there were a ton of threads on this forum, as well as others, wanting the BlackBerry to include threaded SMS. There were even applications developed to fill this void.
Now that 5.0 has arrived and includes threaded SMS, all I see are people complaining about it. Which is it, do you want it or not?
Maybe you should be careful what you wish for, because you just might get it.

For every post you previously read about someone wanting threaded SMS, there was a quiet person who wasn't posting because they were happy without it.
Now that it's a thing, the quiet people are speaking up about it, and rightfully so.
RIM screwed the pooch on this one, in my opinion. Instead of doing a 180 turn and forcing people to accept the new style, they should have offered the option to choose between the two methods. Options are always good.

Very good point! I agree that there should be an option to revert to the old SMS style as well. It seems that it could easily be added to a future OS upgrade.

Who is this complaining anyway? More than 100 people? Or just one.
I wish I had an answer to that because I'm tired of answering that question.

Ditto penguin. It could be 1:10 or 1:100 or more, in fact. You are more likely to hear from the people who are unhappy; not so much the people who are satisfied or don't have a problem.
Me, I don't give a hoot for SMS.

It's the flat tire theory - when a tire goes flat, you don't hop out and extol the virtues of the three good ones. You complain about the flat one.
Some people view the threaded SMS as the flat tire. The others don't.
I don't like the threaded SMS myself, but I do very little texting. I like to PIN when possible.

The same people who don't like threaded SMS are the same ones who: still wish the BB had the scroll wheel, wish the BB didn't have a camera, are happy with the current browser and long for the days of black and white displays. Enough said.

I hated having to go from my sent to my recieved folder if I was trying to read texts from a fight with my boyfriend (we don't fight this immaturely anymore ), it was always annoying. I almost wish we had immature text fights still because it's so much easier to read this way.
I do agree with options, it's always nice having that customizability.
For the people who don't like it, I'd like to hear their input on why they prefer not seeing it as a conversation and instead like to see each in their individual folders.

I miss my 6230 sometimes. The battery lasted forever.

Wirelessly posted (well lookie here!)
I don't text enough for it to matter
Haven't tried threaded sms
I'm satisfied with what I have now
If I did more sms perhaps I'd really have an opinion

Who grades their blackberry and RIM on how well it meets their needs, and not on how it does or doesn't follow Apple or Google's lead? ... I don't need a show of hands this time.

My Blackberry meets my needs by not following Apple et al. What was that lite beer commercial? If I wanted an iPhone, I would have bought one, really. I've been carrying around an Android for a while for evaluation. The latest one is an HTC Hero. Nice device, but I haven't found anything it does better for me than the Blackberry. YMMV
I do prefer threaded SMS because that is a better match for the way I use SMS. I also understand why some may prefer the old way.
And I love flat tires. They're thinking out side the box. None of that bourgeois conformist staying inflated for them. You have to admire that
