How quick does anyone think the exclusive deal will fall through so we can get this device on other carriers? I heard the deal is based on Veriszon meeting a specific sales quota!!!

I'm saying one year, kind of like how long it takes for Verizon normally to get other BBs.
Don't forget the Vodaphone part of that exclusivity deal.

what I find funny is that you think there is a company out there that has a better chance of being successful with an exclusive. as far as I'm concerned, whether or not verizon charges for features, they have THE BEST overall coverage hands down, and thats what the majority of cell phone users want.

They are the single largest carrier of BlackBerry in the world. Couple that with VodaFone overseas and they do have a good chance of hitting their sales goal. Dont worry though, you will see other Touchscreen BlackBerrys in the future.

Wirelessly posted (via telepathy)

I believe that once Verizon acquires Alltell, they will surpass AT&T to be the largest carrier in the US. Add in Vodaphone and it's a pretty solid exclusive. As others said, there will be more touchscreen BBs beside the Thunder.

Unless Alltell's customers jump ship, they will be.

If that's the case, then I can't understand why GSM gets all the devices first. You would think CDMA would get them first, well in the Thunder's case, they are!

CDMA is used nearly exclusively in the states. While VZW may have more customers than any other single carrier (for BB) if you look at the world numbers they are low ranking on the totem pole

GSM is probably a larger market if you compare it in its entirety to CDMA. Lot's of people forget, RIM couldn't care less about who they are selling their devices too as long as they are selling them. I'd design for the larger market as well, if it were my company. That's most likely why the US GSM carriers get the phones first. It's either that, or they pay more.

Will Thunder provided by Vodafone & Verizon be running on the CDMA Technology rather than GSM ?
