I have just purchased a secondhand 8707v from eBay that was locked to Vodafone, I have unlocked it to use on the Three network in the uk. Things work fine and I can make and receive calls and SMS, however there are some missing Icons like the browser! and a message at the top of the screen "Data connection refused". My positive experience experience with my BB8310 on Vodafone made me fancy trying the 8707 for work.
The no browser icon and the "Data connection refused" means that you do not have a BlackBerry specific data plan on your account. To get the browser, and remove that message, you must get one.
Right that makes sense now Three UK don't currently support Blackberry as they are a 3G only network and except for the 8707 and 9000 all other BB are non 3G.
Wen I put the Vodafone SIM from my 8310 in I don't get the data connection error but there still is no browser Icon. If I use 'Switch Application' the browser is there but says that my device does not currently have any Browser Config Service Book entries - do I need to refresh the phone software to a default and then maybe follow the advice to use mini opera to get web access via Three?
then go to options>advanced options>host routing table hit menu>register now
wait a few secs and the service books should be pushed to your BB and the icon should appear

This tip worked for me as well. I recently updated to 4.5.0.55 and my browser icon disappeared. Thanks for the info Nick.
