Default Recording video freezes -> reboots

Please Login to Remove!

While recording video for more than 4 or so minutes, my preview screen will often freeze (though the tally light keeps blinking and the elapse time keeps counting). I then press the soft button to stop the video, which stops the light and timer, but also renders the phone completely locked up. After a few minutes, the phone reboots.

I tried changing where the video is saved, from media card to device memory (both of which have plenty of free space), and get the same result. I am running OS version .75.

I called Verizon to report, and the tech was able to recreate the issue with one of their Storms. So, I'm told it will be reported officially as an issue to RIM.

I am curious to know of anyone with .76 can recreate.

Verizon tech said he'd call me back with an update on when this issue would be addressed. I am sure that it'll be no sooner than the next update addressing a bunch of other issues, but I'll post his response if it has any good info in it.

This makes me more tempted to apply the .76 update. If anyone with .76 can let us know if they encounter these same video-related issues, that be great.

I am interested to know if .76 addresses this issue also.

No go on .76, saving to internal memory and memory card...

The first one I tried, saved 5 minutes fine, 2nd video locked up at 1:47.

This did it in .65 as well, it was one of the first things I noticed when I got my phone....

How do you zoom in and out on the video recording?

Mine don't freeze, maybe its the sd card, it may need to be reformatted.

I find that I almost always get an "Unexpected error. The video cannot be saved" message when I try to record a video of any length. Very frustrating.

mrjerome, I was thinking a reformat of the SD card might help, but since I see the same behavior with it set to save to the device internal memory, I don't think that would help.
