Default Disappearing emoticons?

Please Login to Remove!

I noticed that I could press the SYM key 1-4 times and the last two pages were emoticons! I am pretty sure I was SMS texting and included them in the text. Then I changed fonts and played around some more and now the SYM key only shows two pages of symbols and no emoticons.

Is it my imagination?

Emoticons are only available in BB Messenger and do not display in SMS. You probably saw them in BBM and just expected to see them in SMS.

Thank-you.

I checked BB Messenger (so I thought) and the emoticons disappeared from there as well. However I checked it by selecting "Compose PIN" from my mailbox. When I select "BB Messenger" from the Instant Messaging folder, I see the icons.

So, what is "Compose PIN" for? I thought that was the shortcut way to access BB Messenger from your mailbox.

PIN Messaging is just like BBM. Both use RIM's servers and are instant communication. I would try a battery pull and check again but as previously stated emoticons cannot be used in SMS without a third party application.

Battery pull did not do it.

When inside the Unified Mailbox, selecting "Compose PIN" and creating a message will not show the emoticons when SYM is pressed, but going directly to BBM app does to create the message will allow them to display.

Go figure... I'll worry about something else for now, but if anyone else could check, it would be nice to know if something is wrong with my phone before the first 30 days are up.

TIA,
jan
