Default WiFi Issue Error Code W004 ISP Error DNS Server Cannot Be Reached

Please Login to Remove!

I have a Blackberry Bold 9700 running firmware 5.0.0.586. I am trying to connect to my Linksys wireless router which is secured by a MAC filter and WPA. I entered my phone's MAC address in the MAC filter list, and I manually set up the WiFi connection in the phone by choosing PSK and entering my WPA key. The phone sees the router and gets an IP address, but in the diagnostics under UMA, I have an error code of W004 and a status of "ISP Error DNS Server cannot be reached." I have connected to other wireless routers that had no security and WEP, and it worked just fine. I tried rebooting the phone and the router, but I still cannot get a connection using the WiFi. Any ideas? Thanks.

Default Error Code W004

I had the same error code. I then remembered that Blackberry support through T Mobile told me that the network link had to be PPPoe. On a hunch, I set my router to PPPoe. And it worked.

I have DSL through Verizon FIOS. I needed my Verizon user name and password to enter into the router.
