Default Getting duplicate entries from Contacts and Calendar

Please Login to Remove!

After upgrading a user's blackberry device to 4.0, he has been getting duplicate (even 3 or 4 copies) of entries in his Contacts and Calendar. The syncs are performed wirelessly. Has anyone seen this issue before?

Can you provide more information, such as the Blackberry model, version of BES, etc.

Yes, sorry. We're running BES 4.0 on a 2003 Server (Exchange 2003), and the model is 7750.

I searched the forums and someone posted this:

"According to BB Support, BES 4.0 stores a copy of cdo.dll which can be found on your MS Exchange Server in Program File>ExchSrvr>BIN in the same file directory of your BB Server, i.e. Program File>ExchSrvr>BIN. The previous version stored this file in the BB Server system32 folder. With assistance from BB I verified that the cdo.dll file did not exist in the Program File>ExchSrvr>BIN directory on the BB server. This was the cause of duplicate entries in Office Calendar. I acquired the cdo.dll from Exchange and copied this to Program File>ExchSrvr>BIN on the BB server. I registered the .dll, and then restarted the BB service. I was told this may create a 5-10 minute delay in messages received, but messages would not be lost. This issue has since been tested and verified as issue resolved."

However that doesn't work for us because the cdo.dll can be found in the directory.

Default check the version of the cdo.dll

BB article KB-02937

check the version of your cdo.dll and mapi32.dll on your BES. The dll files on Exchange 2003 and your BES should be the same version. Currently the latest version that should be registered is 6.5.7226 for both the CDO and MAPI32 which is compatible with Service pack 1.

Thanks for your help.

The cdo and mapi32 files on the BES server are versions 6.5.6980.3 and 6.5.6944.0 respectively so it should be okay? If this were an issue though shouldn't this affect all users? Right now out of the 60 blackberry deivces we support only 3 have reported the problem...

EDIT: I should add that I have looked at the other BBs including mine and we don't have the same issue... though we are using different models.

EDIT: Hmm, does the cdo.dll and the mapi32.dll have to match up everywhere? Meaning that the versions on the Exchange server with BES has to match the Exchange server (which is on a different server)? Or does it only have to be okay on the BES server?

Resolved. More like a duh if anything.

While we were doing to the application updates, we had the Loader Save and Restore the user's data. For the 7750s from Verizon, not only did it do that but when wireless synch was turned on it added another copy of the contacts and calendar into the handheld. This did NOT happen with our 7230s or 7290s from T-Mobile even when we performed the save/restore during the app upgrade process.
