Default Consensus on Price Without Contract Yet?

Please Login to Remove!

Is there a consensus or confirmation on the price of the Pearl without a contract extension yet? I've read anywhere between $300 to $400.

I asked my rep today who is holding one and she said it would be a flat $300. I have also heard a range from $300-400 so I guess time will tell. I will be in to get one tomorrow morning so I can post after that.

I am willing to bet that the cost with be EXACTLY $379.99 without any contract extension.

Like I said I guess we will see. I am keeping the email in which my rep told me it would be a flat $300.00. If it does turn out to be $379.99, maybe I could talk them down since I was quoted the incorrect price.

Good luck, I hope you are right I would much rather spend 300 as opposed to 380.... alas I am pretty sure you are wrong.

Here is what my business rep told me:

Quote:
It will launch at $349.99 and won’t have any discounts or incentives for at least 90 days since it is an exclusive between T-Mobile and RIM.

If you are interested in getting it—you can call 1-800-937-8997 and get the device directly from customer care because we are going through a policy change that all handset upgrades and existing customers must purchase the device through them effective as of 9/1/06.

I have seen the device and think it is going to be a real hit.

My guy said $399 sounded "about right." He wasn't positive and was very nervous about discussing anything 8100-ish before Tuesday. Whoever handles the whole secrecy thing at T-Mobile should be hired by the CIA. No more leaks.

That is exactly what I got when I talked to my rep in our TMO store as well. $300.00.

Based on past experience I'm willing to bet you're correct. The local retail store said they wouldn't have an answer until tomorrow? I would rather pay $300 to but I guess I'll choke down the extra $80 if I have to.

Do you have a source behind your number or are you speculating?

Got mine today. It was $299 minus the $50 rebate with new contract.

No source just and educated guess looking by looking at Tmobiles pricing structure for other "PDA/Blackberry" devices. I very well may be wrong....honestly I hope I am wrong.

Tomorrow is almost here. We will then be all happy. I really love this thing. The keys do seem a little tighter (smaller) then previous models. Probably because of the overall size is smaller. The overall feel is solid and has a great feel in my hand. The screen is really nice and I am digging the track ball. It's alot easier to navigate the home screen. Going up/down/left/right is a lot easier. The default settings for the left side quick button is set for voice activation. The right side is set to the camera.

Have you made phone calls yet? How does it sound as a phone? Any software issues?

I don't mind it as a phone. I have it paired to my BT headset. I am new to T-Mobile, so the jury is still out for coverage. I am in the Chicagoland area, so I can expect it to be decent. I will give it a couple more days before I can really say how the voice quality is. I have used it more as a data device today then anything else.
