Question Sidenote for using 8830 as a modem

I have an Apple Mac Book laptop, Sprint 8830 blackberry, and Sprint's Connection manager...I tried using #777 as the telephone number and leaving the username and password fields blank, but that still doesn't work. Any other suggestions?

Old thread but someone might find it on a search.

The username and password could refer to either your paired bluetooth connection or to your carrier's conection settings. If it's for pairing, it's whatever you set it up as originally. If it's your carrier's connection settings, the username is generally something like [email address] and the password is the ESN of the handset.

However, I believe that Object Exchange (OBEx) is disabled on most Blackberrys released and will not work as a modem connection. I know it definitely will not work with any Telus Mobility handset released prior to the Blackberry 8703e or Microsoft Q. I tried them for hours when I worked there.

which phone company do you use? I am with Tmobile and I use my tmobile.com loging user name and password and it works fine,
I also knows sprint uses the sprint.com username and password

The old thread was somewhat helpful, but it also has not resolved my situation. I have an 8830, Apple mac laptop--it dials but cannot connect. I have used my sprint user name, tried leaving it blank, used my phone number, also tried dialing #777, and nothing seems to work. Otherwise I've followed the old tethering thread closely.

Is anyone else having problems tethering their mac to their sprint 8830 via bluetooth that bought it recently?

Default Signin name, password and Sprint

Sprint BB techs specifically tell you to leave the name and password blank by the way. I am not sure if that's correct since it's really like talking to a wall.
