Default Why are there two Message/Email icons?

Why are there two Message/Email icons on the Tour desktop? Either one of them shows me my gmail account. The first one shows me my IM's. Why do they both handle my gmail account? I find that confusing and unnecessary...I don't understand it...

BlackBerries will show a single Messages icon, which is a "unified" view of all of the messages you receive (from all of your e-mail accounts, as well as SMS/MMS messages). You also get icons for each individual mailbox you have set up, so you can look at just those messages. So, if you have two e-mail accounts set up on your phone, you'll see three icons -- one for each mailbox, plus the "unified view" one.

All email and SMS message go into a "Master" Messages folder. When adding an account it creates an icon that is simply a filtered view of the Message folder only displaying items associated with that account. You can do the same with SMS by enabling an option to seperate SMS. I strongly prefer to manage the master Message folder. When you open and email and respond it will use the account that it is associated with to send the reply.

Otherwise, you can just hide your Message Folder and simply use the icons create for each account.

Hope that helps make it clear as mud!
