I have the Desktop Manager for the Mac and I tried to search for updates... nothing so far.

I also did the Wireless Update on my blackberry... nothing so far (like what I always get)

I am wondering when will the 5.0 be available through Macs?

Or do I have to find a friend with a PC which can be a hassle.

i think you can just download the same OS as you would with a PC as long as you have the desktop manager it should be fine

Unless something has changed I am under the impression the Desktop Manager for Mac only updates to official vendor releases for your device (no removing vendor.xml database to allow device and software vendor mismatching.)

Alternatively I missed the how-to on getting around it.

Correct, because the OS downloads only come in .exe format, which cannot be read on a mac.
