Default Slow user management on remote BES 5.0

Please Login to Remove!

BES 5.0 SP1 MR2
BES01 and BES02 with EXCH01 in Primary Data Centre
BES03 with EXCH02 in Remote Centre - 4MB link
BESMGMT Db at Primary Data Centre
BES01DR/02DR and 03DR at Secondary Data Centre with 1GB link to Primary
BAS running on BES01DR/02DR/03DR,
BAS services stopped on BES01/02/03

I'm finding BES03 user management really slow, for example to go to a BES03 users default config and change their signature can take anything from 5 to 10 minutes.

I'm surprised because I would have expected the admin service to do by my referencing BESMGMT but I'm now of the impression itxxx8217;s connecting to or via BES03.

I started BAS on '03 to see if that made a difference but it appears not to have.
(I know apache can be configured to run across subnets but I don't want that)

My 4mb link is busy but not saturated and we have also tested at off peak times.

Can anyone advise on how I can improve the performance or shed some light on the architecture of the user management on remote BES?

Thanks,

Aengus

Have you configured your BAS environment to use TCPPing instead of UDP? Had performance issues with our system which were resolved this way. All three our BAS instances were in the same VMWare environment, just not happy with UDP packets though the switch. Give it a try, you can always switch back if needed.
Search on RIM's site for TCPPING and use the doc for 5.0.1. There are 4 files to modify on each BAS instance. If you are instructed to modify 2 files on each BAS, you have the doc for 5.0, which won't work.

Great idea Brendan!
During initial setup I had tried the TCPPing setup (4 files) but it never worked. I didn't give it much troubleshoot time because I had just been frustrated with trying to get one of our internal certs (MS 2008 R2 Cert Server) into apache and therefore had some anger issues (I have a new repsect for IIS)...so settled on UDP for the BAS.
I have since chilled and TCP makes sense to check out again..will reply here on how I go.
Thanks,

Finally switched to TCPPing and enabled all my BAS instances, no joy with performance, BAS is as slow as ever for the remote site.

I've a call in with RIM about something else and after 4 days all I have is a confirmation of opening, so we aren't going to waste time taking this one to them (we had a T2 agreement but dropped that because support was totally basic).

I'm going to split my setup and install a DB/2nd BES domain at the remote site.

I know its not the case in the US and Canada but here in Australia, Blackberry are on the way out so am expecting not to have any BES in 12 to 24 months anyway so the mgmt cost of the second domain wouldn't be much.
