Default 8330 Activating new Factory Headset??

Please Login to Remove!

I use my factory handset included when I bought my curve back last spring. I use them while I'm working, jogging, cleaning whatever. Today I stepped on one of the speakers. Crushed the housing...making it tough to stick in my ear. Anyways long story short a co-worker offered me his factory handset to have since he does't use them. They are exactly the same headset but now the phone and media player switch back between, no sound, headset sound and speakerphone .

When I click on the blackberry button sometimes I see while on "now playing"
1. activate speakerphone, when the headset is playing music
2. activate handset, when the speakerphone is playing music
3. activate handset, and activate handset when the speakerphone is playing music

Yes thats right activate handset in the list twice. To me it seems the phone recognizes both hansets as seperate entities. The original handset does not act like this at all. The handset given to me was never used before I used it today.

The handset given to me is from a 8330 Curve as well.

Any ideas, this one is driving me nutz

Thanks in advance

OK an update. I think the button on the handset is stuck. If I hold it down the handset speakers stay on. Any ideas how to fix this???

I did a Software downgrade. I downgraded the OS to an older version 4.5.0.77 from 4.5.0.119. This has seemed to solve the problem of switching to speakerphone when the headset is connected to my curve. Just testing it right now. It has switched to speakerphone a couple times, but not as frequent.

Who needs help anyways when you figure stuff out yourself

Just posting this for anyone else who may run into the problem.
