Will upgrading require a re-activation on the BES or will it save your settings?

Yes, but if you are connected to your corporate email system when you do the upgrade just leave it plugged in for a few minutes after the upgrade is finished. When it's done the EA should start automatically. When you open DM to start the upgrade it should prompt for an email profile. When you get it to DM it needs to say "connected" and "online". If it says "offline" you won't get an automatic EA.
