Default You bought a new router, plugged it in and get no Internet?

I just remembered a non-Blackberry battle I fought with one of my friends, there was a thread in Rants & Raves which tickled my brain. The poster had gone out, purchased a new T-Mobile H@H branded router to replace his Airport Extreme, plugged it in and nothing would work (no internet).

My friend had this problem, I tried to give her new gear and we could never figure out why it didn't work right. Long story short I was over there trying it again one day and said "hmmm, I wonder if Comcast is somehow MAC address limiting her? they wouldn't do that would they?"

Sure enough, I cloned the MAC address from the old router onto the new one and everything started working perfectly. The Comcast Cable tech had done something to restrict her access to that (old) device only - if you're having the same problem give this a try.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8300/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

They used to do that, where as now I believe power cycling the cable modem will sometimes clear it.

Didn't work for my friend, we'd been fighting this problem since she got Comcast Cable internet this year (so we're not talking forever ago, rather recent). She got that "everything in one" package they offer these days...
