Default Video Calling on Rogers

When the new OS 4.3 comes out, will we be able to do video calling?

I haven't seen that mentioned as a potential feature. Highly doubtful.

Don't think you will have the bandwidth or processing power.

How would video calling work? You could either broadcast your face or look at the other person but not both at the same time.

I can not see a Blackberry doing this in the near future, not with what is running it now.

I used to work with a company that did teleconferencing and there is some serious bandwidth being used to do this. WAY beyond what a handheld device with todays batteries and processors can offer.

It will happen but not to Blackberry for a while.

ATT has videoshare now which is one way video calling over a 3g connection. Granted no blackberries that ATT supports use 3g, but i am not to certain it will happen eventually anyway. Kinda defeats device security if you can walk into an area and send a live video to anyone you want lol

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8310/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/136)

In GSM/EDGE you dont have enough resources to make a video call. You need to go to 3G.
As far as i know usually people made a video call a couple of times and then never ever! Its not so usefull

Hmm, I use skype alot and make video calls all the time. Is it because the video is not so good?

its more of a hassle to set up a video call than just to dial a phone usually. its like most new toys, either you love them and never stop using them, or you are excited at first, and just get bored with it quickly

You have to have a portable background device. A screen with a projector. There once was a bar with a sound proof room that you can run different back ground noise for what ever place you wanted to be. Train station, airport, etc. I don't know how successful it was.

You need 3G to do video calls. They're voice + data at the same time. That's what 3G is all about - bandwidth.

As for video calls on a Blackberry, first we need one with a video camera in the front. No such animal. In fact, the only Blackberry that does video at all is the new Pearl (Komet?) offered through Verizon.
