Could anyone help me solve the below issue:
When I connect by BB and open the Desk Manager I get immediately connected to the internet and a message appears saying that it is checking for new application. Even if I press on the cancel button nothing happens. a minute or 2 later I get the following: "Handheld Application Loader Wizard has encountered a problem and needs to close".
I have tried to cancel the connection to the internet and the checking by going to Add/Remove program/modify/ and have unchecked the automatic connection but it seems that it comes back when I open the Desk Manager. Any idea?

I'd recommend uninstalling it, re-install it.. During the install process choose custom and do not install the update service, also uncheck the box that says "check for updates".

Which version of the desktop manager is this 4.7?

Thanks for your reply. Yes it's the 4.7 upgraded online from 4.6. So I should reinstall 4.6 from the CD. I use to have the same problem anyway. Iwill try it to avoid the freeze while it's checking for the the new software, but it means that I will never be able to upgrade my device online...

when i click on the start button of add/remove application it get all the way up to "search for available device software" then you get a window saying,

" Handheld Application Loader Wizard has encountered a problem"

after that you get this message,
A fatel error has occured while updating your software.

no one seem to have the answer and RIM are not respoding to me

I aslo get the same. I have an O2 phone. Could it have anything to do with the O2 phones?

i have problem with my bb storm
i cant update my bb storm because when i update it there's windows box tell me that handheld application loader wizard has encountered a problem..
i have already have a desktop manager on my pc. i have os 133 download in my pc..
but i can not update it to my bb storm
can you help me..
