Unhappy QWERTY Keypad Issues with 8330.

Please Login to Remove!

So my new Blackberry Curve 8330 is less than a week old and I've already had to replace it because of a faulty keypad. The first Curve's left side keypad was so loose it made creaks and clicking sounds at the very slightest of touch and sounded and felt horrible to type on.

So I took it back and received another Curve on the spot, tested the keypad quickly (mostly the left side) and it felt pretty solid so I took it. A few days later I'm getting the exact same problem on the left side, making creaking noises when fully depressing the buttons...although it's not as bad as the first curve. The noises are throwing my brain off, making me think I'm pressing more than one button at a time.

So far, I'm not very impressed. Don't get me wrong, I love this thing and I now know why they call it a "crackberry".

Sigh. I'm thinking of just taking it back and getting the Pearl.

My sister who received her Curve at the same time as I did (we went together) has no problems, her keypad is rock solid all around and feels great.

Anyone else with similar problems with the keypad? I wouldn't mind hearing some thoughts from a person who has an 8800 - how is the keypad on that one? I know the buttons are bigger, but are the buttons one big plastic-rubber sheet that fits over the top of the button layout (like the Curve)? When you depress a button, do the surrounding buttons move down also as a result of the pressure on the button (like the Curve)?

Yes, the keypads are all similarly styled on both models.

I haven't had any problems with the keypad on my Curve.

Sorry to hear you have - that's a bummer.

Really? like, no creaking at all? I realize the whole keypad is one big plastic/rubber cutout that goes over the buttons, but this just feels flimsy and and cheap to me.

Consider this a question to everyone who has no problems, I'm really curious if it's just me or whether or not my SECOND blackberry is defective as well.

I appreciate everyones input so far.

could be just you? haha. I dont know my curve is fine and had it for a month now and i txt constantly. I try and type easy so i don't have your problem faulty or too much pressure. Can't you get a new one? And personally I hate the pearls buttons so clicky as well. Good luck with your curve's!

Lol that's what I'm thinking. Is it just me picking apart every little minor detail in this amazing phone? Or do I really have a second Blackberry with a crap keypad, and the worst of luck?

Like I said, my sisters keypad is rock solid and perfect to type on, but this is driving me nuts! lol. I'll just return it again and hope for "third time's a charm".

When your sister is not looking, swap SIMs, grab her BB.

If her name is Lorena Bobbit, then wait until she is drugged.

I can't say I've had a problem with the keyboard creaking, but I seem to have a strange problem with it that no one else does (LOL)! I'm on my 2nd Curve in 2 mos. and absolutely love it! The problem I'm experiencing with the keyboard seems to be in relation to the cursor advancing. After I bought my 1st Curve, the cursor wouldn't advance properly as I was typing and got stuck in between letters so I couldn't see what I was typing, if that makes sense. That happened about a week after I first bought it, so I took it back, got a new one, and just today the SAME exact thing started happening intermittently, both when I was typing texts and emails. Now I must confess this is my first BB so maybe this is a glitch with the BB itself, maybe it's a defect with the Curve, or maybe I'm just unlucky! But either way, it's driving me out of my mind! I absolutely love this device but I'm frustrated because I'm having a difficult time seeing what I'm typing because this crazy cursor is getting stuck right where it shouldn't and is blocking some of the text...or it evaporates into thin air every now and again and I don't know what line I'm typing on. Has anyone else experienced this?
