Default Fatal error updating devices software

Please Login to Remove!

When I am using Blackberry DM and I have my Bold connected and I use the app loader so I can load my software config and add some new software I get an error "A fatal error has occured while updating your devices software. Please try again?. What is the easiest way to fix this?

Thank You

Make sure you are plugged directly into the PC and not into a USB hub.

Try running loader.exe instead of using DM.

Default fatal error when updating Tour software with Device Manager

this quite simply DOES NOT WORK

Blackberry Tour 9630, Verizon, running ver 4.7.1.40 and DeviceManager ver 5.0.0.8

have the same fata error message when goes through process in DM (both with autoupdate active and autoupdate inactive) - tells me there is a core application and other OS updates available, and I go through the screens (have tried with and without backing up device) then click next next finish and shows message of downloading module 1 of xxx - goes straight to "fatal error" message from there. Have tried uninstall / install of DM, have turned off the power savings box on the USB ports, have used all USB ports on my machine (no hubs), have tried with Blackberry battery out, battery in, battery out then in during the process. Have rebooted computer. Have tried these combinations with virus checker off, with all other PC applications closed, standing on one foot and lighting candles with the other foot. Now my you know what are scorched and my Blackberry Tour is still not updating its software.

ANYONE KNOW WHY THIS HAPPENS - IF WE KNOW THE WHY WE CAN FIGURE OUT A HOW........

Next I will try "downgrading" to DM 4.5 or something earlier and try again (once I unistall, reboot, and cross my eyes) I really don't want to "wipe" my device and then find out that I still can't load the software!

Default workaround fatal flaw in device manager

Never got around to downgrading my Device Manager. Instead I installed the OS on my laptop's harddrive (just clicked on the os.exe file). Then I ran a program called BLACKBERRY MASTER CONTROL PROGRAM which apparently just loaded the 5.0.231 os using the Blackberry Loader program. Might have been able to do the load myself with just Loader.exe...... I did NOT do a wipe or anything else to my Tour 9630 in preparation of the os load.

Took less than 45 min start to finish (10min of hesitation on my part out of fear - what if it wiped my phone and then failed to load )..... and bingo, got new OS which seems faster, and my GPS programs work, and SMS thread, and email, and browser, and phone. Have not tried the bluetooth yet. Needed to update one program (Quickpull Plus) and most need to re-enter permissions. But no problem.

STILL DON'T KNOW WHY BLACKBERRY DEVICE MANAGER KEPT GIVING ME AN ERROR
