Default a little trouble

Please Login to Remove!

Hello team Storm
I am experiencing a little trouble.. well ok.. alot of trouble. I recently backed up files on laptop after a bad Storm and had it replaced. I had to re download my address book from a seperate phone because the Storm froze in the sleep position and wouldn't wake up. So I thought instead of digging for my old phone and having to sync phonebook and then re downlaod apps any more I would back the program up and solve a bunch of problems at once.

Well. for what ever reason, and I do not no if it is related although I have not sent any email since then... I do not have the capapbility to send a text or email out to any lab top/ PCs either. I am confidant there is a button I need to press or an allow button somewhere on this phone to get my sending of emails and texts back on line. One3 thing that I noticed is that when I go to set up and tough the screen to go to email settings it will not get there.. I get an error message after it will not connect to email settings.
Please lend some assistance.
thank you

Sounds like you need to have your Service Books resent from Blackberry. This happens to me occasionally when I upgrade the OS.

Do the follow and you should be back in business:

Go to: Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > Press Blackberry Button > Select "Register Now"

This will prompt Blackberry Services to resend your service books and you should be able to email, send SMS / MMS.

Hope that works for you!

I think you havent used the Change Device option on the BIS page for yuor carrier.
Once done, (entered the new device PIN and IMEI) it will then push the service books, and your email acoxxxxs to your device.

thank for the info I will try it.. registration sent.. four times now. I will re-read and attempt to floow every little detail.. do I need to go back in with the software on the "laptop" and make some adjustments? I do not recall any pin numbers.. is this something I will have to visit my local VZ carrier for?

You should only have to do this once. If you don't get text confirmation from BIS shortly thereafter, I strongly suggest you go to the nearest VZW store and get a customer service rep to troubleshoot your device.

Thanks for the laptop test. It definitely kept me on my feet.

Text messaging is not working?

So you received a replacement device, correct? You've activated the replacement device by dialing *22899, correct?

Once you have done that, then you want to log into your BIS account and click on the Switch Device link, and then input the new device's PIN and ESN/MEID number. This will transfer all of the email accounts from the previous device to this one.

Your BIS site is here : https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=vzw&locale=en

You will need to know your login credentials.

You can find your PIN/ESN/MEID by going to Options > Status.

well since I cannot email nor text.. the same is true for receiving mail.. other than a VZ post stating to use the educational page which offers no FAQs. so that means if VZ sends me a PIN it gets hung up in the ethereal virtual dimension. I cannot retrieve it. still looks like a trip is in order.. unless there is another idea floating around.

Are you getting a capital 1X/1XEV or lowercase? If texting isn't working, I would call Verizon on that.

JS,
I had no clue as to what you were talking about.. small case vs. upper case.. I was like, WTF am I missing? Well I went downtown and sure enough that was the first thing they looked at. it was lower case.. I still do not know what that is called the numbers/letters symbol. What I did learn was that my browser wasn't working either. I didn't use it yesterday and the day before things were backed up on the laptop.

A battery pull was what did the trick. Reason was it was registering me with my new phone but the data was still trying to grip the old phone. It needed some persuasion as it was described to me. Lesson to self.. when in doubt, do a battery pull.. like 50 push-ups, cure anything.

Thanks for helping work through my anguish, anxiety and internal strife. The sledgehamma was acomin!!

Somebody here should create a virtual bar where we can go and share a drink.. did it in another forum and folks would stop in an have a cold one. Drop a word or two of widom about their phone to keep things on topic. Oh, if I went off topic for a sec.. let me finish with thanks for the help on getting my Storm back on line. Stay thirsty my friends!
