My Facebook app that downloads on my 9630, does not allow me to choose the calendar or contact options, only the messaging. My 8830 never had this problem, but the 9630 does not let me take advantage of these 2 neat options. i've deleted and re-installed, checked the permissions and everything appears to be set to allow all activities.
any ideas

Your BES admin needs to allow this functionality. It most likely is blocked on your new device because of the updated handheld OS.

IT Policy > RIM Value-Added Applications > Disable organizer data access for social networking applications = No
