Default Mailbox Move - Exchange 2003 / Exchange Failover w NSI Double-Take...

Please Login to Remove!

Using Exchange 2003 -

Blackberry Manager 4.1.6.20
USB Channel Controller 4.0.1.3
Device Manager 4.3.0.7
Application Loader 4.3.0.18
RIM Intel Programmer 1.0.0.35

When I perform a mailbox move for a user do I need to take actions on the BES server? How long till it detects a change?

Also I am at a shop that uses Exchange 2003 with NSI Double-Take - it replicates the exchange databases and during a failover resets the homemdb AD attribute. After a failover do I need to run the handheld cleanup to detect the new homemdb , can I reboot the BES server rather then run the handheld cleanup would that be faster.

Also using :( msde on server with 1gb of ram for 500 users.

Thanks,
Mark

You have to restart the services for a move to a different store, but on the same server. You don't need to do that if you move to a different server.

It picks up the change right away.

I can't answer the last question but I would imagine a reboot of the BES would solve any issue of it not quite knowing where the mailboxes are.

Move mail boxes
If you move a user between servers, you only need to perform the handheldcleanup.

If you move a user within a server (different mailbox database) you need to either:

1) Temporarily assign that user to a static mailbox agent
or
2) Restart the server

KB00142 - Cannot send or receive email messages because a mailbox has been moved

Restarts of a server are KNOT required when moving users from one store to another. When doing a mass move however it does make things easier.

You don't need to do the handheldcleanup either - I've never run it and have moved people back and forth without issue.
