Default Storm-wiped clean and reloaded software, now have a question

Please Login to Remove!

I ended up having to wipe my Storm clean and reinstall the software. Now I'm noticing that there are some things missing that should be in there because they were apps that were on the phone when I first bought it. The app for "tasks" is missing, as is the "application center". (There are a couple of others that I'm not recalling at the moment.)

I'm wondering if the problem is that after I wiped it clean, I installed the latest version of the software, not the initial version of the software that was installed on my phone when I bought it? Do I need to install that initial version, then go through the upgrade process to the most recent version?

I'm not at a computer to refresh my memory, but plug your blackberry back into the computer and select the module in destop manager for installing/removing applications. Take a look at what applications/modules are not checked. I suspect your missing app's are unchecked. If so, check them and proceed with the process of installing the apps.

Ah...That makes sense. I'll check that when I get home from work. Thanks for the suggestion!

Post back when you do. One thing I wonder is how those basic blackberry apps would have been unchecked when you did the reinstall. I remember on an upgrade I did in the past you had to check BBM, but I would expect something like tasks and notepad to be checked by default.

Whenever you do a low-level wipe (JLcmdr or BBSAK) its going to remove a lot of things from your phone; namely third party apps and other various apps on your Storm.

Although I found it makes the phone run better, my Storm does act differently after each wipe and OS upgrade. Usually I have to reinstall my BB messenger, Facebook, etc. I also get grayed out folders that won't work until I check the show all tab under options.

It's not a perfect science but you can get the phone back to working order after a few tweaks.
