Computer does not recognize BB Curve 8310

I have had a BB Curve for over a year and have been synching it with this computer on an almost daily basis. Today, the computer would not "recognize the device".
I have upgraded in recent weeks to the newest OS and have upgraded Desktop Manager.
Since getting this error, I have removed the battery of the curve and restarted it.
Rebooted the computer.
Reinstalled the Destop Manager.
Nothing works.
Any suggestions?
