Hi all,

We just brought our BES server in house and I am setting up Role Based Administration to allow our Help Desk Supervisor access to BES.

I started by granting him "Senior Helpdesk Administrator" but he did not have the capability to do Enterprise Activations or Add Users; so I bumped it up to "Device Administrator", still no Add User; so I went to "Enterprise Administrator" and still no Add User....

What's going on here? Per the manual "Senior Helpdesk Administrator" should be able to "perform all user account management tasks"....

Any ideas?

Hi. How are you adding the user? Senior HelpDesk role is sufficient for activations and adding users. I had to use domain\user for it to work properly for Windows Authentication- otherwise it needed a sql account created.

Okay there was not fix. I simply changed the role back to Sr. Helpdesk and the "add users" option was available.

We are using Windows Auth for logins and the associated SQL Logins are all set up correctly.

You must be doing an EA via USB cable. Only Device Administrator and higher can see the Device Management menu. I give my BlackBerry support people "Senior Helpdesk Administrator" and have them perform wireless EA.
