Default Custom Theme

I am current;y working on my first custom them, i would like it to be a mix between a Today Theme and a Zen Theme.

The first item in the today part is SMS/MMS. When i first start it up it runs fine, and while there are unread SMS/MMS messages it is fine. However when i read that message the (1 Unread) disappears like it shoud but the SMS/MMS title is permanently stuck at "SM....."

I read on here somewherer to try to change the font size, but that did not fix the problem.

Any suggestions?
