Hi all. I am getting charged for internet use on my Bold 9700. I think this is ridiculous and phoney considering that I already subscribed for BIS. The surprising billing started 3 days ago just after I tried a day BIS from another network different from the one I have been using. A colleague told me to try that network to see if their BIS service is better than that of the network I normally use. When I returned my sim,I started noticing ridiculous charges when I browse. This wasn't the case before now. I called my network provider and they said I was gettin charged cos I accessed the web from their network wap portal. That was crap in my ears cos I used to browse wit wap or my internet explorer without gettin charged. Another representative told me that some sites I visit 'such as bbc.co.uk',automatically use wap so I get billed when I go to that site. Please I am of the opinion that I shouldn't have to pay for ANY data traffic since I already subscribed BIS. Please help out

You need to call you provider and ask them to remove the service books for INternet Live and only keep the BIS internet. I was having the same issue here in India while I am on travel and they charged me a lot for that but then I had to get on the phone and argue over the whole things and finally they were able to fix the issue and now its all working fine.

Thanks joginder. I called my service provider and asked them to remove any portal that isn't BIS. They claim its not possible. In january I used this phone to browse without problems,its odd that all of a sudden I get charged for 'wap requiring websites' as the customer care personnel said

BIS service from carriers is generally the method they have of managing the various options available from that particular carrier. The Blackberry Data plan should allow internet browsing at least to the limits of your plan. It appears your carrier has removed the wap service book in an effort to add additional cost to their users. I'm not sure if this is common. I checked a couple of different blackberries on ATT, Sprint and Verizon and all had multiple service book listings supporting some form of wap internet service. As and example I have wap.push, wap2.browser and wap.browser. service books so maybe a call to the carrier again and get detailed information on the service you are getting. It may be that a change of plans will help avoid the additional unexpected costs.

Make sure that you are using the Internet Browser and not the WAP Browser.
