Has anyone figured out how to avoid the blank compose screen (other than by hitting the escape button) after sending an email using the c-compose utility?

Can someone give some background on the compose utility? There used to be a compose option in the ribbon on my old 7290 however my 8700 seems to have dropped this option. Is this what you are talking about?
