viewing a picture sent to me via BBM 5.0

i just got my new bold 9700 and it works great until i want to see a picture anyone sends to me via BB messenger 5.0. When i try to open the pic the screen just goes blank so i have to go back, save the picture and then open it using the media explorer
Any ideas of how to fix this?
