When I checked a few months ago, there was a size limitation of about 1,400 to 1,500 words per memo for my 7290. You can put more than that in your Outlook note, though the excess will be cut when it's transferred to the BlackBerry. The size can vary because the BlackBerry is counting characters rather than words.

I have a document that goes back and forth between Outlook and MemoPad program that has 1,427 words. That works out to 7,876 characters with spaces or 6,656 characters without spaces. If I remember correctly, it's fairly close to the maximum.

Can you provide me with a link to a site that states this? It's for my boss. It needs to be in writing. Thanks

I did it on my own, so I can't cite you a source. You can check the limits yourself. Here's how:

(1) Create a 1,500-word document in Word (use the built-in word count function to check the length).
(2) Copy and paste the contents to an Outlook note.
(3) Sync the Outlook note to your BlackBerry.
(4) Check to see that the end portion is there in the MemoPad document.
(5) If some of the words at the end are not there, then sync the document back to Outlook and copy/paste the contents to Word for an updated word count.
(6) If all the 1,500 words are there, type more words in the MemoPad document until it won't accept any more words. Then sync the document back to Outlook and copy/paste the contents to Word for an updated word count.
(7) Tell your boss how hard you've worked to find the limit.
(7a) Report back here, so we'll know, as well.

Keep in mind that the maximum word count will vary because the limit is based on the number of characters, not the number of words. If you want to determine the maximum number of characters, you can still use the word count function in Word. It provides a character count, as well as a word count.

I decided today to find the exact limit. I typed additional words into a MemoPad document until I received a "Field Full" error. When I synced the document to Outlook and copied/pasted the contents into Word, it showed 7,958 characters (including spaces). That should be the maximum number of characters a MemoPad document can hold on my T-Mobile 7290 (running 4.0.2.49 handheld and 4.0.1.12 desktop software).

With this particular document, that works out to be 1,443 words. As I mentioned previously, the maximum word count can vary. For example, "A cat ran up to me" has six words or 18 characters. "Our feline maneuvered close beside me" also has six words, though it has 37 characters.
