My wife and I are both Verizon customers available for an upgrade. She is not a BB (or smart phone in general) user and is a bit apprehensive about getting one.

My question is this - if we take advantage of Verizon's Buy 1 BB and Get 1 free offer and she decides that she doesn't like the device, can she switch back to her old phone and cancel her data plan? And if the answer is yes, can we still keep the BB as a back up to mine or to give to someone else?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yes

Yes, but typically you will be charged the full retail price of the free device and both lines will not be eligible for any upgrade deal for another 2 years. Check your offer carefully and make sure all the terms explained to you are presented in black and white.
