My BB curve 8520 is currently running OS 4.6.1.314 (default, it came with this OS) and my carrier is virgin here in the UK, and when I go to settings » advanced options » wireless update it says there are no updates available. Does anyone know why this is happening and can someone tell me what I can do?

U r carrier should support the update orelse try to download the os.5 and install using application loader

Zippy - at the top of each forum section is information on how to download and install the latest released version for each BlackBerry.
